Blackbutt Honey

Blackbutt honey is one of Australia's great eucalypt honeys, made from the blossoms of the towering Blackbutt gum, named for the dark, rough bark around the base of its trunk. We stock two very different Blackbutts, one from each side of the country.

NSW Blackbutt Honey TA30+

Our Blackbutt Honey TA30+ is produced on the North Coast of New South Wales from the blossoms of the Blackbutt eucalypt. It's an amber-coloured honey with subtle caramel notes, a true taste of the Australian eucalypt landscape. The flow is seasonal, so when it's gone, it's gone until the next harvest.

WA Blackbutt (Yarri) Honey

Our WA Blackbutt (Yarri) honey comes from giant eucalypts in the rugged Western Australian wilderness. It's full-bodied, with butterscotch overtones and a lingering caramel finish, produced in small batches by a multi-generational family of beekeepers. Available in 450g and 1kg glass jars, and 500g and 1kg PET.

What does TA mean?

TA stands for Total Activity, a rating that measures the natural activity of honeys like Blackbutt and Jarrah. You'll see it on our specialty honeys as TA 30+ or TA 50+. It's a different scale to the MGO rating used for Manuka. Read MGO vs TA: what's the difference?

How to enjoy Blackbutt honey

Its caramel and butterscotch notes make Blackbutt a brilliant all-rounder. Spread it on toast, drizzle it over yoghurt or a cheese board, stir it into tea once it's cooled a little, or use it in baking and marinades.
