When looking at a honeys, the numbers can quickly become very confusing, discovering that the numbers on the honey all mean seperate things, what is the difference?
Fundamentally the higher the number on the jar of honey, the more healthy the honey right?
Well this isn't that far from the truth, whether we are discussing MGO or TA, the higher the number, the more antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory the honey is.
Raw Honey contains hundreds of compounds that propagate these aforementioned benefits, all raw honeys. However Manuka honey has one added benefit, and that is the MGO grading, no other honey has this, and it is the most potent of all compounds in honey.
TA honey has naturally occurring peroxides which generate much of the benefits in the honey, whereas Manuka honey has additional Non-peroxide benefits in the MGO component.
MGO refers to an anti-bacterial compound, whereas TA refers to how well the honey performs as an antibacterial agent.
MGO, simply explained, has targeted healing benefits, it actively targets ailments and begins healing them, where TA honey is good, Manuka is even better.
We have a range of honey that has TA grading, such as our eucalypts honeys like blackbutt, (TA 30+) Or our jarrah, (TA 50+) these are incredible honeys with wonderful healing benefits.
Moreover, our Tea Tree honeys (Manuka) also have incredibly high grading, we have 250mgo, 500mgo, 750mgo, 1400mgo and even 2250mgo!
There is a distinct difference between TA and MGO honey, however both are great options for a variety of uses, TA honey is better used as an everyday booster, and Manuka is better used as a targeted healing medicinal honey.
